eLearning Module:
Emailing College Professionals
Audience
University and college students
Tools Used
Articulate Rise 360
Problem Overview
After using the Email Ettiquette Handout, the client requested a more in-depth course that could be used in conjuction with the handout to guide students in sending more professional emails to university staff.
Solution Process
Using the handout as a guide, I developed an action map to identify what students needed to be able to do by the end of the course and added further explanation for various sections on the handout.
Action MapAfter the action map was developed, I used Articulate Rise 360 to outline the module. I used Flashcard grids, labeled graphics and scenario blocks as interactive elements.
Branching MapIn order to create the scenario activity, I used MindMeister to develop an outline of each choice the learner will make in the process of composing an email to a professor.
I color coded the choices and responses:
Blue = Email component
Red = poor choice
Green = good choice
After each choice is selected the learner gets feedback on whether they made a poor choice or a good choice. After a good choice, the learner is given feedback and can continue to the next part of the email. After a poor choice, the learning is given the opportunity to try again and select the better choice.
